Bhubaneswar: Rajya Sabha Member Dr Sasmit Patra today raised the issue of Center’s step motherly attitude towards Odisha in allocating PMAY(G) houses. Speaking in the Upper House, Sasmit said that there is need to immediately open the registration portal for PMAY(g) for Odisha as a large number of people have been left out of the special scheme. More than six lakh people of the state are unable to register on the portal as the Center has disabled any new registrations for Odisha.
He said, “ the Awas Plus Portal of PMAY(G) has not been opened by Centre despite Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik writing to the Prime Minister on 5th July, 2021.” He demanded that the 6 lakh households belonging to KBK districts, Western & South Odisha and predominantly from Tribal communities be allowed to include their data by ensuring opening of the Awas Plus Portal of PMAY(G) at the earliest.
It is worth mentioning here that the Biju Janata Dal has been demanding that the Center remove the restrictions put on new registrations in the Awas Plus portal. The State government has identified 6.07 lakh more beneficiaries from 16 districts who are eligible to get the benefits under the PMAY scheme. The Centre has been ignoring several reminders and letters by the Government of Odisha in this regard.
