Bhubaneswar: Its Christmas time and people irrespective of caste, creed and religion are celebrating the festivities with much fan and fair in Odisha – a state known for its perseverance, peace and religious independence. But some people like the Spokesperson of Pakistan Maj General Asif Ghafoor could not grasp the fact and take to twitter with false information. In a hate mongering tweet, the Spokesperson had said that Christians in Odisha and alike are under the Hindutva obsessed environment. While the tweet is in direct contravention to the fact that the Christian people of Odisha are the happiest, it has also drawn widespread criticism.

Reacting to the tweet, Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra has lambasted the Pakistani Army Spokesperson Maj General Asif Ghafoor and reminded the misdeeds committed by Pakistan on its minorities. In a reply to the tweet, Sasmit posted one of his speeches at the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union, Belgrade, delivered in the month of October 2019. The speech was delivered to representatives of 170 countries and was highly appreciated.
Sasmit himself is a young Christian MP from Odisha and represents the community at the highest helms. He slammed Pakistan’s anti-minority barbarism before the 170 countries saying Christians in Odisha are safe, strong and empowered. Not butchered as in Pakistan!
