New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay release of movie ‘Patnagarh’, which is based on a real murder mystery.
A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices SA Bobde, S Abdul Nazeer and Krishna Murari disposed of the petition stating that the petitioner should move the Censor Board within 30 days if she has any objection.
The petition was filed by the wife of accused Punjilal Meher seeking a stay on the release of the film, which was scheduled for November 8.
Earlier, the movie, based on the parcel bomb blast at Patnagarh in Odisha’s Bolangir district in 2018, was unlisted from the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) after the festival committee got a letter from a lawyer in Patnagarh.
The film had earlier been selected to be screened in the Indian Language Competition Section of the festival that will be held from November 8 to November 15 in Kolkata.
The film has been made in Hindi, Telugu, and Odia.
