Scaling New Heights to Enlighten Democracy; Koraput Admin Organises Voter Awareness Program from Deomali Hills

Koraput: India is celebrating its biggest festival of democracy. The country is going to vote for the General Elections and Odisha will vote for both the Lok Sabha and State Assembly. Keeping in view the importance of this democratic exercise, the Koraput District administration has organised a voter awareness program in a unique way.

The District Election Officer, Koraput, orchestrated a voter awareness expedition, engaging all Returning Officers, and several first-time voters, with the aim of appealing to voters across Odisha from the summit of Odisha’s highest mountain point, the Deomali hills. The special awareness drive through mountain tracking to Deomali propagated on the Voting Rights and Responsibilities among youth. Through this, the district administration, called all the voters to vote in the coming elections and contribute in nation building.

Led by Collector Keerthi Vasan V, the awareness expedition saw many participants from various sections of the society especially the young first time voters. The Collector made them aware about their rights and responsibilities as they are voting for the first time in the general and state Assembly elections. With just a few days left for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the voters were urged to vote. The awareness program was conducted from the peak of Deomali mountains in which more than 500 people participated. The Highest peak of Odisha, Deomali is situated in the Kotia Panchayat of Pattangi block in Koraput District.

Apart from this, since the announcement of the election dates, the district administration has made elaborate preparations. With the instructions of the District Administration, special programs are being organized in all the Blocks of the district to make the voters aware about the importance of voting.

Speaking about the efforts, Collector Keerthi Vasan said, “Through this special mountaineering effort, an awareness message is being given to all the voters of Koraput district and Odisha as whole. All need to cast their valuable vote in the upcoming elections and participate in nation building.”
