New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident amid COVID-19 lockdown, a child tries to wake his dead mother up at a railway station in Bihar, giving a glaring example of sufferings of migrants in India.

The video that shocked the nation shows that a child tries to awaken his mother who passed away at a railway station in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur.

The mother is lying motionless and her body is covered in a sheet of cloth.

The innocent toddler is trying to wake his mother up by lifting the cloth constantly as he is unaware that the woman is dead.

The video has been widely shared on the social media and has shocked the nation.

According to media reports, the deceased woman had boarded the special train from Gujarat on Saturday. When the train reached Muzaffarnagar on Monday, she collapsed due to starvation.

The woman had taken ill on the train due to the lack of food and water, as per her family members.

Since lockdown, several migrant labourers across the nation have reportedly died due to exhaustion, starvation, heatstroke, road accidents, among others, as they desperately try to reach their homes.

Thousands of migrant workers have been made jobless since the imposition of lockdown.
