Separated Conjoined Twins Jaga-Kalia to Return Odisha Soon

Bhubaneswar: Separated conjoined twins from Odisha – Jaga and Kalia, who are currently undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi will return to the State soon.

The twins, who are currently under medication after undergoing a rare cranial separation surgery, are now ready to get discharged from the hospital, said National Health Mission (NHM) Odisha MD Shalini Pandit after discussing with doctors at premier hospital.

The AIIMS will soon issue an advisory to the Odisha Government regarding mode of transportation for their shifting. Necessary arrangements will be made by the Government accordingly, she added.

Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das said that talks are on with the AIIMS authorities to shift Jaga-Kalia to Odisha.

An eight-member AIIMS team will accompany the separated twins on the day of shifting, he said.

The State government will bear all the treatment expenses of the twins, he further stated.

The conjoined twins hailing from Odisha’s Kandhamal district were separated after a 21-hour long marathon surgery in October, 2017.
