New Delhi: In a setback to India, dashing opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for three weeks due to a thumb injury.
The left-hand batsman had sustained the injury during India’s CWC 2019 game against Australia.
He had been hit on his left thumb during the match against defending champions Australia at The Oval on Sunday.
Dhawan registered a century as India beat Australia by 36 runs to remain undefeated in the competition.
Dhawan along with Rohit Sharma has been instrumental to India sublime run in the World Cup 2019 so far.
Dhawan is a key player for India in ICC tournaments where he has 6 hundreds. In the 2015 World Cup, Dhawan had scored 2 hundreds.
