New Delhi: Six Indian boxers, including Nikhat Zareen (51 kg) and Deepak Singh (49 kg) stormed into semi-finals of the Thailand International boxing Tournament in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Zareen, a former junior world champion, recorded a 5-0 triumph over Uzbekistan’s Sitora Shogdarova in women’s draw.
Deepak, Asian silver-medallist, took barely a couple of minutes to leave his rival Samak Saehan of Thailand in the men’s draw, with a bloodied forehead, forcing a stoppage in the first round itself.
Besides them, Ashish (69kg), Manju Rani (48kg), Brijesh Yadav (81kg) and Mohammed Husammuddin (56kg) also reached the semi-finals.
Asian silver-medallist Manisha Moun (57kg) lost to Russia’s Luidmila Vorontsova in a unanimous verdict to sign off without a medal at this event.
