Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced the schedule for the world famous annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath to be held in this pilgrim town of Odisha next month.
SJTA chief Pradipta Mohapatra has informed the media about the finalization of timings of Rath Yatra rituals.
As per the schedule, chariot pulling will be held on July 4. The ‘pahandi’ of deities will begin at 9 am on July 4.
The Bahuda Yatra will be held on July 12, nine days after Gundicha Yatra.
The Sunabesha of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be conducted on July 13. The pahandi of deities during Niladri Bije will be completed by 4.00 pm on July 15, the SJTA said.
The rituals will be stopped after Madhyana Dhupa (rituals during noon) on July 16 in view of Lunar Eclipse. But the daily rituals of the Lords will be held 8 hours before the eclipse.
Debasnana Purnima of the Trinity will be conducted on July 17 and the pahandi rituals of the deities will be held from 4.00 am till 6.30 am.
The SJTA chief appealed to the servitors for the smooth conduct of rituals of deities during the festival.
The bids for the telecast rights of the rituals starting from Deva Snana Purnima to Niladri Bije will open at 4 pm on June 10, the SJTA informed.
