Snana Yatra: Puri Gajapati Maharaja Skips Chhera Pahanra Ritual, Here’s Reason

Puri: Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, who plays a key role during Deba Snana Purnima festival of holy Trinity at Srimandir, has skipped to perform the Chhera Pahanra ritual, one of the important rituals on the Snana Mandap.

The Gajapati Maharaja has decided to stay home today in order to follow the COVID-19 guidelines of the government that restrict religious functions and congregations of more than 7 persons outside the temple.

The guidelines also prohibit persons over 65 years of age from coming out of their homes.

Due to these two reasons, Dibyasingha Deb did not conduct Chhera Pahanra ritual of the Trinity.

The ritual was performed by Mudiratha, who officiates for the Puri King in his absence.

As per reports, this is the second time that the Gajapati Maharaja skipped the ritual on Snana Yatra.
