Puri: The Puri Srimandir Servitors have unanimously supported the Heritage Corridor Project being implemented around the Jagannath Temple and have called for the government to continue the development works for the betterment of pilgrim facilities.

Participating in a meeting of the Chattisha Nijoga today, the servitors welcomed the developmental activities being carried out in the 75 meter corridor around the Jagannath temple. Senior Servitor and Nijoga Member Madhab Mahapatra, said that the Nijog Members unanimously condemn the false reports being carried in certain media regarding the dangers to the Temple due to the Heritage Corridor Project.

He said, “We have studied the decision of the Managing Committee with regard to the Heritage Corridor Project. The works are related to public amenities only. There are rumors that the works will affect the temple and vehemently reject the rumors. I call upon all not to believe in the rumors. We have all the permissions that allow works for pilgrim amenities.”

According to Dama Mahasuara, senior servitor of Sri Jagannath Temple, “I have seen the Project details thoroughly. I don’t think there is any danger to the Temple. We had unanimously supported the Heritage Corridor Project. We should not oppose any development activity related to pilgrim amenities. By the blessings of Lord Jagannath, there are developmental works being undertaken around the temple. These will help in providing the best amenities to the visitors.”
