Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized one illegal leopard hide and two deer hides near Harbhanga in Boudh district.
A wildlife smuggler was arrested by the STF in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, a STF team along with forest officials of Boudh Forest Division conducted a raid and arrested the wildlife criminal from Chhatranga under Harabhanga police limits last evening.
The accused has been identified as Girish Kumar Sahoo.
A case has been registered at the STF police station under Sections 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w Section 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
The accused will be forwarded to the court of JMFC, Harabhanga, Charichhak, Boudh, while the animal hides will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun for biological examination, the STF stated.
