Students From Across The State Thank Naveen For Cancelling 10th Examinations

Bhubaneswar: Students from all across the state have welcomed the decision taken by the Government of Odisha to cancel the Annual Board Examinations for this year. It has come as a big relief for the lakhs of students and their parents who were in a quandary because of the increasing Covid-19 infections. The decision was taken today after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered for the same after consultation with various stakeholders. The exams were scheduled to be held between 3rd and 15th May.

While the Central Board of Secondary Education announced its decision on Wednesday to cancel the 10th exams and postpone the 12th until 1st June, the students and parents in Odisha had been waiting eagerly for the state government’s decision regarding this. Keeping in view the changing Covid-19 scenario and its severity and taking into account the health and safety of students, the government has taken the decision.

The announcement made today has come as a big succor to the students who appreciated the Chief Minister for this practical step. According to Mithun Khursel, a class ten student from Bolangir, “We were expecting this announcement for the last few days. Our area is today experiencing a large number of infections. The Chief Minister has taken the best decision today. We thank him for his prompt action.” For Sangeeta Pradhan of Ganjam the news has come as a big relief as her parents were in confusion whether to allow her for the examinations. “I am confident that the government will bring in a mechanism by which every student will be evaluated according to his or her talent. Like always, our Chief Minister has shown us that he is with the students when it comes to their future.”

As the thanksgivings continue, Rudra Narayana Sahu of Nayagarh says that “Educational institutions in the state have reported a large number of infections. I thank from the core of my heart our Chief Minister for ordering for the cancellation of the examinations.” Gyana Ranjan Nayak, a matriculation student from Khordha, says that we are very happy today as don’t have to go to the examinations amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. We have studied in online mode and will be happy with the mechanism that will be taken by the government to evaluate the students.”
