Sundargarh: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid the foundation stones of the Kopasinga and Kudabaga Barrage Projects in Sundargarh District. The projects will provide irrigation to farmlands, enable drinking water facility, facilitate aquaculture and improve road connectivity for 35 villages across four Blocks and one Urban Local Body in Sundargarh.
The Barrages will be built over the Ib river with an estimated cost of Rs 493 Crore and will help in irrigation of 489 hectares of agriculture land and support aquaculture. Sundargarh Municipality will also get drinking water from the project. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said “I am very happy to lay the foundations stones of the Barrages on IB river. The state government is always working for the solving the water problems in the state. These projects will help bring clean piped water to every household of the area. The farmers will also get water to irrigate their farmland. Sundargarh is the lighthouse of Odisha’s Development.”
