Sambalpur: Keeping in view the rising water level of Mahanadi as a result of incessant rains in the upper catchment areas of Chhattisgarh in the last few days, the authorities have decided to open ten gates of the Hirakud Dam today. The Gates will be opened at about 11 AM today.
The Gates will be opened in phases and people living in low level areas have been warned not to venture into the river. Currently, the water level in the Hirakud Dam stands at nearly 611 feet and is rising.
