Bhubaneswar: In a boost to healthcare services in Odisha, the third cadaveric kidney transplantation was successfully conducted in the State on Thursday.
The doctors at the state-run SCB Medical College and Hospital successfully transplanted cadaveric kidneys of a deceased donor on two patients.
The kidneys of Rajalaxmi Das of Delang in Puri district were transplanted to Rita Rani Mohanty of Mayurbhanj and Ratnakar Mohanty of Kamakhyanagar at SCB.
Rajalaxmi Das was grievously injured in a road accident recently and admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Doctors had declared her brain dead on Wednesday.
Her family decided to donate her kidneys.
It is the third such transplant in Odisha.
The first cadaveric transplant was also conducted at SCB on February 4 and the second was carried out on February 27 in separate private hospitals in Bhubaneswar.
