Those Behind Hurling of Eggs at Naveen’s Carcade Should Apologise to People of Odisha: Pranab Asks BJP

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das has strongly criticized the incident of hurling eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s carcade when he was returning from Puri after the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Heritage Corridor project yesterday.

In a tweet directed at Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Pranab said “You are a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. I request you to immediately intervene into the matter and condemn this dastardly act of BJP workers and order them to apologies to the people of Odisha.”

He also said in the tweet that “Your party has always been giving stress on Hindu reforms and culture. Jagannath Culture is the identity of the Odia people. Hurling of non-vegetarian objects on people returning from the service of the Lord Jagannath has hurt the sentiments of millions of Odias. People of Odisha believe that the feet of the person returning from Badadanda is touched as they are sacred. But it is very unfortunate that a leader of your party is taking credit for this unholy action.”

The ceremony for laying of the Foundation Stone for the Heritage Corridor by Puri Maharaja Gajapati Dibasingha Deba was attended by people belonging to all the parties and Puri MLA was also part of the ceremony. And so also Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the program. It is very unfortunate that some anti-socials hurled eggs at the CM’s Car. It is a matter of grave shame.
