Three-Member Team Leaves for Kathmandu to Bring Odisha Mountaineer Kalpana’s Mortal Remains

Bhubaneswar: A three-member team formed to bring back the mortal remains of Odisha mountaineer Kalpana Das has reportedly left for Kathmandu today. 

 The team comprises Kalpana’s brother Pradeep, mountaineer Ganesh Jena and her relative Ranjit Karmi. 

The Odisha Government’s Sports and Youth Services Department has informed to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu in this regard, sources said. 

The State Government will bear the entire expenses of bringing back the body of legendary mountaineer, who died at the balcony area of Mount Everest on May 23 while descending from the summit. 

Kalpana was the first woman from Odisha to scale Mount Everest.
