Tigress Sundari To Be Relocated Again

Bhubaneswar: Tigress Sundari, who is lodged in a special encloser in the Satkosia Tiger Reserve, will be shifted to a new spacious encloser of around 25 hectares in the coming days. The state government wants to again start the process of translocation of the tigress which was brought to Odisha from Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. The tigress needs to be made active after days being kept in captive. Hence, a more spacious encloser will be built for Sundari either in the Satkosia Tiger Forest or the Mahandai Wildlife Division. The state government will take the help of National Tiger Conservation Authority for this.

Also, tigress Sundari could be shifted altogether from the Satakosia Forest Division to the Mahanadi Forest Division. Sundari was brought to Odisha in June 2018 under a tiger translocation project. But due to resistance of the villagers and alleged death of two people by the tigress, Sundari was shifted from the wilder to an encloser.
