Tokyo Olympics: 5T Secretary Wishes Good Luck to Indian Contingent

Bhubaneswar: With Olympics fervour going strong across the country, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian has joined the millions of fans in cheering the Indian contingent participating in Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The 5T Secretary, who is a staunch sports lover, has conveyed his best wishes to all the Olympic participants who would be representing India at the Tokyo Olympics.

India has sent it’s largest-ever contingent to the Olympics. The 228-member strong contingent consists of 127 athletes hailing from 22 states who will participate across 18 disciplines viz., Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Equestrian, Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling. The delegation consists of 68 male athletes, 52 female athletes, 58 team officials, 43 alternate athletes and other officials of 8 contingent staff, apart from coaches, team officials and others. The Indian contingent will compete for 85 medal possibilities at the Tokyo Olympics.

The opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is scheduled to be held on Friday at the National Stadium amid the COVID-19 concerns in the Japanese capital. Twenty-five members from the Indian contingent will attend the ceremony.
