Traffic Rule Violations May Lead Suspension of DL in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) announced that the violation of traffic rules may lead the suspension of driving license (DL).

The enforcement officers have been empowered to suspend DL for three months for drunken driving, over speeding, red light jumping, using mobile phone while driving, carrying overload or passenger in goods vehicle as per directions of Supreme Court Committee on Road safety, the STA said.

RTOs and Police Wings have been apprised to strictly implement the change.

Police officers can also seize the DL of the offender and forward the same to the concerned RTO within seven days of suspension of the license, the STA added.
