New Delhi: In yet another tragic incident, 24 migrant workers died and more than 15 injured when the truck they were travelling overturned after colliding with another truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya.
The incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday on the national highway at Mihauli under Kotwali police circle. The long trailer truck was carrying about 50 migrant labourers and was coming from Rajasthan. All the migrants belonged to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his deep condolences for the incident and directed officials to provide medical facilities to all injured. There have been a large number of incidents across the country in which migrant labourers have died.
More than 40 persons have died in accidents in the last 48 hours only. People travelling back to their villages are opting to go by whatever means they get as no communication is available due to lockdown.
