Two Hardcore Maoists Surrender before Police in Odisha

Rayagada: Two hardcore Maoists carrying cash reward on their heads surrendered before police in Odisha.

The duo has been identified as Manku Oyam (22) and Lachu Madkam (25).

They have surrendered before the Rayagada police, according to an official statement.

Manku Oyam, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head, was allegedly involved in several incidents of exchange of fire with security forces in Kalahandi district. He had also suspected role in killing of Bhima Dora in Kalahandi district and beating of civilian at Kamkocha in Rayagada.

He joined Sunabeda Area Committee of Mainpur-Nuapada division under Odisha State Committee banned CPI (Maoist) organization as a Party Member (PM) on November-2011. After promotion to the rank of ACM he was transferred to Kalahandi LOS in May-2018. Later, he was working in Kalahandi LOS of BGN division.

Lachu Madkam was wanted by police in in several cases. He was allegedly involved in mulitiple incidents of exchange of fire with security forces in Kandhamal district, camp busting, burning of construction machines and vehicle, and burning of two polling vehicles with EVM machines during general elections 2019.

He joined Rahul Area Committee of KKBN division under Odisha State Committee banned CPI(Maoist) organization as a Party Member (PM) on April-2015. After that he has been working in Kodang AC and Kalahandi LOS under KKBN and BGN Division respectively since 2015. Later he was working in Kalahandi LOS of BGN division just before his surrender before SP Rayagada. He was carrying a cash reward of 1 lakh.
