Two Liquor Mafias of Balasore Apprehended at Bhadrak with Huge Quantity of Illicit Liquor

Berhampur: Two liquor mafias of Balasore were arrested by the Excise officials at Bhadrak with huge quantity of illicit liquor.

The liquor mafias have been identified as Muna Kumar and Saroj Kumar.

The Excise Officials of Special Squad, Central Division, Cuttack have apprehended the liquor mafias.

After series of raids in Balasore, the liquor mafias of Balasore have started targeting the neighboring districts. Accordingly, the Special Intelligence Unit of Cuttack, who was directed by the Excise Commissioner to focus on the neighboring districts of Balasore.

After receipt of credible information, one Mahindra Bolero bearing Regd. No. OR-04-L-0575was seized while transporting 800 Litres of illicitly distilled and spurious liquor to Bhadrak, when they were intercepted by the Excise team. Both of them have been forwarded in the Court of S.D.J.M., Bhadrak and have been remanded to Jail Custody. Sale proceeds of Rs. 35,000 have also been seized from the accused persons. The role of the owner of the vehicle and other persons involved in the crime is being investigated.

During the pre-election Special Drive, the Excise Officials of Cuttack have seized one Maruti Suzuki Vanwith 1890Litres of ID Liquorin Athagarhand they have arrested one Sandeep Kumar Rout of Kalaragarh village under Athagath Police Station, who has also been remanded to Jail Custody.

The Excise Department said that it will continue its drive against liquor mafia on the eve of upcoming General Election 2024.
