Two Odia Teachers Conferred with National Awards By President Kovind

New Delhi: President of India Ram Nath Kovind has conferred National Awards to Teachers in New Delhi virtually on the occasion of Teachers’ Day today.

As many as 47 teachers including two from Odisha have received the award today. The two Odisha teachers include Basant Kumar Sahu, Acting Head Teacher, Govt. Upper Primary School, Sarasara, Harabhanga, Boudh and Tapas Kumar Mohanty, Teacher, Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind, Bhubaneswar.

The national level awards are given to teachers on Teachers’ Day to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who through their commitment have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

The Ministry of Education had constituted an Independent Jury at National Level to select the award recipients for the year 2020. The Jury reviewed the list of 153 teachers shortlisted by all the 36 State &UT Selection Committees and 7 Organisational Selection Committees through Video Conferencing and recommended 47 teachers for the coveted award.
