Bhubaneswar: With the war against the deadly COVID-19 enters crucial phase, the Odisha government now shifted its attention on migrant workers who have came from other states.
Speaking at the regular press conference, chief spokesperson of Covid-19, Subroto Bagchi said, “A total number of 78233 persons have come from other states to different districts of Odisha.
According to reports, maximum 11,084 persons have come to Ganjam district while to Balasore 6442 persons have come. As many as 4448 and 4306 persons have come to Kalahandi and Phulbani district respectively.
“Keeping in view the health condition of the persons returning from outside, the Sarpanchas of GPs have been instructed earlier to motivate these people how to go for self quarantine voluntarily for 14 days at their residence”, said Bagchi.
He said that the Panchayat Samitis and district authorities have also been instructed similarly.
Meanwhile, the Government has stepped up its efforts in procurement of medicines and medical devices.
Odisha State Medical Corporation has declared incentive for early delivery of medicines and medical equipments like 50% extra for delivery in 7 days, 25% extra for delivery in 15 days and 10% extra for delivery in 30 days. Full cost of transportation along with full payment within 24 hours of delivery has been assured.
Similarly, the IFFCO has agreed to contribute essential medical equipment like portable ventilators, masks and sanitizers etc. The first lot has already reached.
Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department Sanjay Singh was also present in the press conference.
