World Cup 2019: India to Take on New Zealand in First Semifinal, Australia to Face England

New Delhi:  India will take on 2015 finalist and fourth-placed New Zealand in the first semifinal of the ICC Cricket World Cup on Tuesday at Old Trafford in Manchester.

The Virat Kohli-led Team occupied the number one spot on the points table with 15 points from nine matches after their emphatic seven-wicket win against Sri Lanka in the last group match on Saturday.

Top four teams, India, Australia, England and New Zealand will vie for spots in the final to be played at Lord’s on July 14.

On the last day of the league stage, Rohit Sharma scripted history becoming  the first player to make five centuries in a single World Cup match.

His opening partner KL Rahul also scored a brilliant century, his first in the World Cup.

Australia finished a point behind India with 7 wins and two losses while England ended up in the third position with 12 points.

New Zealand, who got 11 points, edged out Pakistan on a better net run rate to finish fourth and make the last-four stage.

England, the host of current edition of World Cup, have reached the World Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1992.
