World Skills Competition: Odisha’s Aswatha Narayan Wins First Ever Gold For India

Bhubaneswar: Bringing laurels to the Country and the State in the 45th World Skills Competition held at Kazan, Russia, Odisha’s  S Awastha Narayana wins the First Ever Gold medal For India. The coveted award is also regarded as the Olympics of Skills.

This feat recognises that the efforts of the state government in nurturing skill development is bearing fruits.

Aswatha Narayan from Odisha, representing India at World Skills Competition wins first ever gold for India. He competed in the emerging water technology against developed countries. It is a testimony to the potential Odisha has to be world-class.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Aswatha Narayan on winning India’s first-ever gold medal at the WorldSkills Competition.

Aswatha along with expert Rajat Kumar Samantaray from C V Raman Institute Bhubaneswar, achieved the singular feat.

Overall, India has won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the country’s best performance at the event which started in 2007.

63 countries of the world participated in the world’s biggest international Skill Competition – the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.
