Bhubaneswar: Eleven more exclusive COVID-19 hospitals will be made operational in Odisha soon, said Sanjay Kumar Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department today.
Giving details about the Odisha Government’s plan to set up COVID hospitals in each district of the State, Singh said that out of 30 districts, 21 districts have now 24 standalone COVID-19 hospitals with combined capacity of around 4000 beds.
Eleven more dedicated COVID-19 hospitals will be made operational over the next two to three days taking total number of hospitals to 35 covering all districts, he said.
Once all these 35 hospitals become functional, the overall bed capacity in the State will be roughly around 5900, he added.
Odisha has been one of the leading states in setting up of so many COVID-19 hospitals in such a short time due to the vision and leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he said.
As instructed by the Chief Minister, these hospitals will offer dedicated and free healthcare services to the COVID-19 patients in the State, he added.
He further said that Odisha has tested 6734 samples so far till midnight of Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, no positive case has been reported from the State, he added.
Odisha has reported 60 COVID-19 positive cases so far while 19 persons have recovered from the disease.
