Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education Education Department has come up with new guidelines for the examination of government universities and autonomous colleges in the State.
According to the notification, the second and fourth semester examinations of the undergraduate courses and second semester examination for students of postgraduate courses will not be conducted in the current academic session.
The students will be promoted automatically to their next grades, it stated.
The Department has urged the colleges and universities to find out alternative methods to evaluate the performance of the students based on UGC guidelines.
For students, who have failed in some subjects in the intermediate semesters, back papers will be held as usual, except for sixth semester students, the notification added.
“There will be no separate back paper examination for the UG students of Terminal Semester (6th Semester, 2020), if a student has maximum 2 back papers. However, if a student has more than two back papers, then he has to appear for regular examination in all the back papers as and when conducted,” it further said.
However, the back papers will be held for all the students of post-graduate courses for all semesters.
Sri Jagannath Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya in Puri will announce the schedule of examinations under annual system. The first year students will give regular examinations.
The second year students will be automatically promoted to third year and back papers for the intermediate years will be held as per the schedule, as per the notification.
