Bhubaneswar: In a major administrative reform, the Odisha Government has announced to integrate different Directorates with their respective administrative departments to function as composite departments with immediate effect.
The General Administration Department has passed a resolution in this regard on Wednesday.
The move to integrate the Directorates with the respective departments has been taken to streamline the functioning of the Directorates and expedite the process of decision making, sources said.
As of now, different government departments have been functioning from different state buildings, including the Lok Seva Bhavan while the directorates have been functioning from the Heads of Directorate Buildings also known as Natala.
The integrated departments will now operate in the premises of the respective Administrative Departments/ Directorates as may be decided by the Administrative Department keeping in view availability of space and public convenience, said the General Administration Department.
According to the resolution, the concerned staffs will continue to remain in their respective cadres and will avail service benefits in their own cadre hierarchy.
“The Administrative Department shall take necessary steps to make budgetary provisions for the composite Department. Necessary budget provisions for the integrated Department shall be made from the next financial year in consultation with Finance department,” the resolution said.
