ACFO Death Mystery: Six-Member Police Team Visits Balasore

Balasore: The sensational death of Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forests Officer Soumyaranjan Mohapatra continues to intensify even as a six member Gajapati Police team visits Balasore for further investigations. The team headed by IIC Paralakhemundi police station visited Khaira in Balasore and recorded the statement of the mother of the deceased Soumyaranjan. His mother had alleged that the death was a pre-planned murder and Soumya’s wife Bidyabharati, DFO Gajapati and the cook were involved in this. The team will also later visit Udala in Mayurbhanj to record the statement of Bidyabharati, wife of Soumyyaranjan, who has denied any involvement in the case.

Family members of Soumyaranjan including his mother, father and uncle have alleged that all was not well with the newly married couple and Bidyabharati has conspired to kill Soumyaranjan with the help of the DFO and the cook. The Paralakhemundi police has registered a murder case against the three on the basis of the complaint filed by Soumyaranjan’s father. A memorandum has also been submitted to the DGP Odisha by Soumyaranjan’s father demanding lie detection test of the ACFO’s wife, DFO and cook so that truth will come out. He also questioned the shifting of seriously injured Soumyaranjan from Cuttack from Berhampur. He also questioned the intention of IIC Mamata Panda behind stopping the ambulance carrying Soumyaranjan near Forest office in Gajapati for more than an hour. The young ACFO had died of eighty percent burn injuries at a private hospital in Cuttack.
