Berhampur: The Odisha Government today rolled out an advance mobile COVID-19 testing van in Ganjam district, which will enable health officials to collect samples at the doorstep of the people.
Talking about the new initiative, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said that the mobile swap collection service has been launched in the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) to collect swab from the people in their own areas.
Introduced by the State Health and Family Welfare Department, the advanced mobile van will facilitate to collect samples at the doorstep of the people, so that they don’t need not to visit the medical centre to give samples for testing.
It will help people avoid infection during swab collection, the Collector said.
The mobile testing van is equipped with testing facility, provision of disinfectant, drinking water, disposal of clinical waste, and a drawer for storing swab samples.
In order to maintain social distancing in the van, only two persons will be accommodated inside the van at a time.
