Bhubaneswar, 13th Feb.2023: Scientific seggregation and processing of waste in Wealth Centres of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is attracting students and academics.
A group of 30 agriculture undergraduates and 3 teaching faculties from Sikshya O Anusandhan University (SOA) has visited Pokhariput Wealth Centre today to study the decentralised waste management in the capital city.
The students were briefed about source segregation, home visits, door to door collection, processing of wet biodegradable waste for release of MO Khata from Micro Composting Centre (MCC). Team BMC also presented about quality check-up of Mo Khata and its increasing demand across the state.
Visiting team was exposed to Material Recovery Facility (MRF) unit where the members could know processing of dry waste through conveyor belt and belling machine. They were also exposed how the materials like dry waste, electronic waste are periodically sold to register of Pollution Control Board and refused derived fuel (RDF) to cement factory.
