Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar has decided to use drone technology for delivery of emergency healthcare services.
The premier hospital has successfully conducted the first drone delivery trial for medical supplies, as per reports.
During the trial run, the drone covered a distance of 70 km from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Tangi CHC. The drone not only delivered blood units but also efficiently collected blood samples from the CHC for transportation back to AIIMS.
Following the successful trial run, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is considering to extend the drone delivery service to include emergency drugs and injections. It is also planning to conduct another trial later on a larger scale.
