Rayagada: In what could be seen as a growing internal feud within the Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, two BJP leaders from Rayagada district have reportedly lost their posts for extending their support to BJP national spokesperson and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi during her programme in Gunupur.
As per reports, district president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), youth wing of the BJP, Debashis Panda, and BJP’s district Krishak Morcha president Prem Prasad Panda were removed from their posts by the district core committee for allegedly defying party’s whip on attending Sarangi’s programme.
BJP national spokesperson and Bhubaneswar MP Aprajita Sarangi was on a two-day visit to Rayagada district on October 4 and 5. The BJP leaders and workers were directed not to attend Aprajita’s programmes as the MP had skipped the party forum, according to reports.
Sarangi was welcomed by the district unit of Biswa Hindu Parsihad and various programs such as bike rally, pada yatra and general meetings were organized. The youth BJP unit had extended support to it internally. Although, the Yuva Morach President did not attend the programme, but some leaders of youth wing had reportedly attended the programme.
Similarly, it has been alleged that Krishak Morcha president Prem Prasad Panda also supported the MP’s programme. After reviewing the allegations, the core committee decided to remove the two leaders from their posts.
