Cuttack: Several market associations in Cuttack have decided to close shops and commercial establishments after 2pm daily from May 3 to 15.
The decision has been taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the second wave.
The shops and markets in Cuttack city will be closed after 2 PM. However, the medicine shops and other essential services will be open.
There will be no restrictions on the movement of people.
Confirming this, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Ananya Das said that almost all the market associations have voluntarily decided to close shops after 2pm daily.
“We welcome the decision, which will help us to break the Corona chain in the city”, she said.
“It’s high time we should follow the Covid appropriate behaviour”, she added.
She further said that a 100 bedded facility will be created at SCB in the next seven days with 41 ICUs.
