Kandhamal: For Sunil Bindhani, a 25-year-old small-time-artist from Dandimaha village in Kandhamal district, the 14-day isolation he stayed in Daringbadi Covid Care Center came as a blessing in disguise. He was infected with Covid infection two weeks back and was subsequently shifted to the Covid Care Center for isolation and treatment. With mild symptoms and no major health issues, he spent the days at the CCC doing his favorite pastime – painting.
Bindhani’s love and interest for painting immediately caught the attention of the administration which in turn provided him with all the required items for painting. The support given by the administration during his stay in the CCC resulted in some of the magnificent paintings that have caught the attention of the society. Starting from Lord Jagannath to the important social issues that the society is today facing, all found place in his paintings. The small time artist who was once doing wall paintings in village home for his livelihood has become a recognized painter. The paintings he made have attracted art lovers and in the last few days he received many enquiries and orders for art pieces. One of his best creations in water color of India India crying because of the pandemic has caught the attention of all. With social media intervention, he has gained notice from a varied people.
Speaking to NewsroomOdisha.com, Sunil Bindhani says, “I am very much thankful to the Kandhamal administration for their wholehearted support to me. I used to work in different villages doing small arts on house walls but today my art works have become famous only because of the administration. My stay at the Covid Care Center transformed my life. I am really grateful to all.”
