Berhampur: Five more persons were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Congress MLA candidate from Aska in Ganjam district, Manoj Jena.
A lookout notice was also issued against prime accused Bhagwan Sahu by the Berhampur police, sources said.
Four accused persons were held from Laxmipur area in Koraput district, another was arrested from Balugaon railway station today, reports stated.
Three motorcycles, two country-made guns, two sharp weapons used in the crime were seized from the possession of the accused persons.
Earlier, police had issued lookout circular against seven persons accused in the murder of Jena and had arrested 12 persons for interrogation in connection with the incident.
Notably, Jena was fired upon from close range at Oxford School Square near Lanjipalli in Berhampur town on May 22 by four bike-borne miscreants while he was returning from Bhubaneswar in a four-wheeler.
The Congress leader succumbed to injuries during treatment in Bhubaneswar.
