Assaulting and Intimidating Government Officials Has Become A Habit of BJP Public Representatives: Biju Janata Dal

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has alleged that assaulting and intimidating government officials have become a habit of Bharatiya Janata Party’s public representatives. A few days back, Union Minister and Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha MP Biseshwar Tudu had assaulted Mayurbhanj district officials. Yesterday, Deogarh BJP MLA Subash Panigrahi assaulted the Tileibani BDO of Deogarh district. Assaulting and intimidating Government officials is becoming a habit of the BJP public representatives of Odisha and protecting them instead of condemning their violence is becoming a habit of the Odisha BJP.

Reacting to the incident of attack to Deogarh BDO, Lenin Mohanty, Spokesperson of BJD has said that when Union Minister and BJP’s Lok Sabha MP assaulted Government officials, we had expected that Odisha BJP would condemn the incident but unfortunately they shielded their Lok Sabha MP and tried to divert public attention. Today also when action as per law is being taken against BJP MLA Subash Panigrahi, Odisha BJP, instead of condemning his violent behavior, is very unfortunately protecting him and his misdeeds.

He said, Biju Janata Dal always stands for the rule of law and for the law to take its course. In the past as well, action as per law has been taken against publicly elected representatives cutting across political lines for taking law into their hands. So is the case today. But unfortunately, the State BJP wants to protect the guilty and divert public attention from the truth. This is the reason why the people of Odisha are rejecting the BJP, election after election.
We hope Odisha BJP will refrain from falsehood and playing politics on such violent acts by their party’s public representatives and instead of protecting them, would welcome the law to take its course, Mohanty said.
