Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered that the Bahanaga High School along with the Primary and Elementary schools inside its premises will be totally demolished and rebuilt as a Model School under the 5T Initiatives.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, 5T Secretary VK Pandian and Secretary School and Mass Education S Awasthi today interacted with Balasore Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde and the School Managing Committee members, Panchayat representatives, teachers, students, and alumni through video conferencing regarding the development of the Bahanaga High School.
As the terrible scenes of the day of the tragedy are still fresh in the minds of the parents, teachers and the students, there is a fear among all and they are all in a state of panic. Therefore, by emphasizing the mental health of the children, a decision was taken in the meeting to demolish the Bahanga High School. Taking everyone’s opinion, it was decided that the High school along with the Primary and Elementary schools will rebuilt as a Model School under the 5T Initiatives.
It is worth mentioning here that the dead bodies of the train accident victims were temporarily kept at the Bahanga High School. Later, the bodies were taken elsewhere and the school was cleaned, but there is fear among students, teachers and the public. Therefore, there were demands in various quarters regarding demolition of the school and its reconstruction.
