Balasore: Subarnarekha Port Opens JN Tata Vocational Training Institute at Baliapal

Baliapal: Subarnarekha Port Private Limited (SPPL) has set up a centre of J N Tata Vocational Training Institute (JNTVTI), the premier skill development training institute of Tata Steel, at Baliapal in Balasore district of Odisha.
The institute seeks to benefit local youths by enhancing their skills, thereby boosting job opportunities.

The centre was inaugurated by Balasore Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde in the presence of Prakash Singh, Executive Director, SPPL, Jaya Singh Panda, Chief, Learning and Development, Tata Steel, and citizens of Baliapal.
The centre, located at Baliapal College of Physical Education (BCPE) campus, is equipped with best-in-class classroom infrastructure along with hostel and mess facilities for both boys and girls. It opened with 32 students in the first batch. It will add 4 more batches in the next 6 months to on board 125 candidates, who will be trained to become Site Safety Supervisors, Civil Supervisors and Mechanical Fitters.

Commending Subarnarekha Port for the initiative, Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, Collector, Balasore, said: “A reputed and professionally-run technical institute at a comparatively remote location such as Baliapal will certainly empower the local boys and girls to improve their skills and improve their prospects for job opportunities in the industrial sector not just in Odisha, but across the country and beyond.”

Thanking the administration and the community for all the support Prakash Singh, Executive Director, Subarnarekha Port Pvt Ltd, said: “With the economic progress of the region, it is imperative that we augment the skills of the youth to prepare them for current and future job opportunities. We are certain that JNTVTI will play a critical role in this aspect. The Institute will not just help bridge the demand-supply gap for skilled manpower, it will also address the upcoming job opportunities that will soon be created as our port project moves ahead.”
MK Verma, Director, JNTVTI, Samrendu Pattnaik, Senior General Manager, SPP, Adwaita Kumar Patra, President, BCPE, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

SPPL, a Tata Steel-partnered entity, has been continually contributing to skill development of local youth. Till date, 17 students from Baliapal and Basta area have joined various organisations after successfully completing training at JNTVTI, Jamshedpur facilitated by SPPL and 2 more are undergoing training at the institute.
