Cuttack: Bali Yatra, a famous festival that reflects ancient maritime glory of Odisha, is scheduled to begin on the banks of Mahanadi river in Cuttack city from November 12 and shall continue till November 19.
Special focus will be given on cleanliness and the ban on usage of single-use plastics will be enforced strictly, sources said.
Biodegradable carry bags will replace polythene packages to make the festival venue a plastic-free zone.
The administration is also planning to issue identity cards to every traders participating in the fair, according to reports.
Bali Yatra is the biggest fair held in the State, which sees thousands of stalls from pottery, ethnic, jewellery, costly metals, handicraft, stone carving, wood carving, pattachitra, appliqué and terracotta and local spices to house hold products and electronic gadgets across the upper and lower Bali Jatra grounds.
The festival witnesses a footfall of nearly three lakh visitors every day.
