Bargarh: Sarapanch Candidate in Kelendapalli GP Dies, Election Postponed 

Bargarh: In an unprecedented development, a Sarapanch candidate in Balangir district passed away hours before the first phase of the elections, leading to the postponement of election to the Sarapanch post.

Following the sudden death of Saroj Seth, a Sarapanch candidate in Kelendapalli gram panchayat under Bhatli block in Bargarh district, the election to the Sarapanch post in the GP has been postponed, informed BDO-cum-Election Officer of Bhatli, Dhirendra Kumar Sethy through a notification.

“Exercising the powers conferred under Rule 33(b) of OGPE Rules 1965, BDO-cum-Election Officer of Bhatli, Dhirendra Kumar Sethy, countermanded the polls for the office of Sarpanch of Kelendapali panchayat scheduled to be held on February 16 following death of Sarpanch candidate Saroj Seth”, the notification reads.
