Bhubaneswar: In a blow to the BJP, Bari Block Chairman Ashok Kumar Gedi on Tuesday returned to the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Gedi and his supporters returned to their old party at a function held at Sankha Bhawan.
The senior BJD leaders such as Pranab Prakash Das, Pramila Mallick, Pratap Jena, Biswaranjan Mallick and Pratap Deb have welcomed Gedi and his supporters for their home-coming.
Speaking about his home-coming, Gedi said that he was misguided on development of Bari with a change in government in the state.
“In the last 11 days, I realized that no such development is going to happen in my region under this dispensation. I am happy to rejoin my party, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD),” the Bari Block Chairman added.
The senior BJD leaders alleged that the BJP is misusing the power to threaten and allure workers and leaders of the regional party.
Notably on August 16, Gedi along with his supporters quit the BJD and joined the BJP.
