Bhubaneswar: BJD President Naveen Patnaik on Friday called upon the members of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, the students’ wing of the party, to remain active on social media and continue to their fight against false promises of the BJP.
Addressing a key of meeting of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal held at Sankha Bhawan, the BJD President urged all the students, youth and women members to work together to strengthen the party.
Highlighting the impact of social media on the society, Naveen advised the students’ wing to be active on social media and called upon them to continue fighting against false news and fake news. Naveen emphasized on making people aware of BJP’s false promises of 300 units of free electricity per household, and Rs 3000 pension to all social security beneficiaries, Rs 50000 to women under Subhadra Yojana and giving Rs 5000 in installments.
He said, “As a regional party, the Biju Janata Dal has been serving the people of Odisha for the past 27 years. Today, it has become a social movement involving students, youth, women and farmers. The goal of BJD is to serve people, not power. Referring to the last election, Naveen said that winning and losing is part of the election. In the last election, the BJD got the maximum number of votes with 41.02% votes. Naveen pointed out that this love of the people of Odisha is the biggest strength of BJD.
During the BJD government, many new medical colleges and professional educational institutes were established in the state with the aim of creating a knowledge society, which has made Odisha an educational hub of eastern India. Reservation in medical and engineering colleges for government school children and the 5T schools and colleges have been providing desirable results, he said.
Describing the student society as the backbone of the future, Naveen expressed the hope that if they work with commitment, the way to build a strong Odisha will be widened.
