Berhampur: With senior citizens and differently-abled persons facing difficulties to visit medical centers for COVID-19 testing amid lockdown, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has rolled an advanced mobile testing van to collect samples at their doorsteps.
The senior citizens can now book their slots between 8 am to 10 am over phone (9438849711) for corona test.
The mobile van will facilitate collection of swab samples at the doorsteps of the elderly people, so that they don’t need to visit to the medical centers.
The mobile testing van is equipped with advanced testing facility, provision of disinfectant, drinking water, disposal of clinical waste, and a drawer for storing swab samples.
Talking about the initiative, the BeMC Commissioner Dr. Siddeshwar Baliram Bondar said that the step has been taken to enable senior citizens and other persons, who are unable to visit the testing centre, to get tested for COVID-19 at their doorsteps. It will help the civic body to timely detection of virus among the senior citizens and make necessary intervention, he added.
Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has inaugurated the mobile van and said that the initiative will help the administration to scale up testing in the city.
