Berhampur: The 85th birth anniversary of comrade Dilip Kumar Mukharjee, the face of regional rural banks, was celebrated by DK Mukharjee Trust at Utkal Grameen Bank (UGB) Staff Union Office at Sai Complex Gandhinagar here on September 7.
The Trust members paid their humble tributes to comrade Mukharjee and his contribution towards the strengthening rural banking sector in the country.
On this occasion, the Trust organized its 4th D K Mukhrajee memorial lecture on the topic “Fight Against Privatization of Financial Sector – Need of the Hour”.
Chief speaker comrade Susil Kumar Giri, comrade Ashok Ku Das, comrade Madhab Kothia shared their views on the topic.
The meeting was presided by comrade Digambar Panda and comrade Hrushikesh Patro.
The members of UGBEA, UGBOA, UGBRSA and BEFI were present in the meeting.
Dilip Kumar Mukherjee was the secretary general of All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association, the largest RRB union, for a record 33 years.
He was instrumental in successfully lobbying for issues like capital infusion into RRBs or lifting the freeze on hiring.
