Berhampur: Four anti-socials were arrested by Berhampur police for allegedly their involvement in a bombing and car burning case under Digapahandi PS.
The arrested persons have been identified as Subhendu Kumar Nayak (21) from Haladiapadar village, PS Golanthara; Bikash Bisoi (23) of Balipada village, PS B.Sadar; Chandan Kumar Sethi(24) of Haladiapadar village, PS Golanthara and Subham Raula (20) of Pr-Brajanagar 2nd lane, PS Nimakhandi.
One Dhanu Gouda (42) of Nua Moulabhanja reported that some unknown miscreants set fire to his car (Mahindra XUV 500) on the night of October 28 and fled away from the spot.
According to police, there is rivalry between two groups of anti-socials led by accused Santosh Gouda of village Dakhinapur and another group led by one Raju Patra of Digapahandi.
Raju Patra, who is a friend of the owner of burnt vehicle, used the said vehicle during his requirement. As there is rivalry with him accused Santosh Gouda and Ajit Sethi@ Balia were always against him.
On the night of October 28, Santosh Gouda, Balia Sethi, Kanha Sethi, Papu Lenka, Nandan Behera, Rakesh Sahu came in a blue colour Baleno car and in another vehicle which was occupied by Kalia Sethi, Jagan Sethi, Chandan Mohanty, Subhendu Kumar Nayak, Bikash Bisoi, Chandan Kumar Sethi, Subahm Raula hurled hand bombs on the house of complainant and then came to the parking place of the Mahindra XUV Vehicle and set fire on the said vehicle by pouring petrol on it. As a result the vehicle got burnt down. Then the accused persons fled away to evade police arrest. Further it is also ascertained that prior to the occurrence two days before the accused persons attempted to set fire to the TVS Apache RTR Motor cycle of the compliant after draining petrol from it but couldn’t succeed as some neighbors and vehicles appeared near by the spot.
On the evening of November 3 while performing patrolling duty Police received reliable information a Suzuki Baleno vehicle coming towards Digapahandi side from Dekhali for committing crime again.
Police intercepted them near village Padmanabhapur and apprehend four criminals – Subhendu kumar Nayak, Bikash Bisoi, Chandan Kumar Sethi and Subham Raula. On interrogation they disclosed that they were coming to Digapahandi for committing crime and as per the direction of Santosh Gouda and Balia they hurled hand bombs before.
During search incriminating articles were seized from their possession. Further they have also accepted that they were involved in Digapahandi bombing case on October 26, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M in a press note.
