Berhampur: A hotel owner in Berhampur was arrested for allegedly sending lewd images and vulgar messages to a woman and her friends using fake Facebook accounts.
The accused has been identified as Asish Padhy (26) from Manjari Nagar area near BK Street Office under BN Pur Police station.
A case was registered in which a married lady aged about 29 years who is the owner of a Dance Institute at Berhampur lodged a complaint at Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station Berhampur on May 15, 2022 alleging that an unknown person has created a Facebook account impersonating her and using her photo and personal details in January 2022.
The miscreant has also created three other Fake Facebook Accounts in the same month in the name of “Manas Panigrahy”, “Rajkumar Tiwari” and “Sanyasi Maharana”.
Using the fake Facebook ID, he posted some derogatory and vulgar comments. He also posted lewd photographs and created an obscene & vulgar story spoiling the personal life of the complainant harming the reputation of the complainant lady. He shared those posts through Facebook Messenger, the Berhampur Police said.
During investigation, technical information was collected from various quarters. After meticulous investigation Berhampur police carcked the case and the place from where the accused was creating the fake ID was located and also the systems from which the fake ids were created were identified. It was a Cyber Café at Mayuri Towers, Berhampur.
Sufficient evidence was collected against the accused. He was arrested and forwarded to the court, the police stated.
Asish Padhy was previously involved in two cases of Crime Branch Cyber Crime P.S, Cuttack. In both these cases of 2017 accused has misbehaved with two women in similar way as that of the present case, the police added.
